The challenge

Hoosegow: Prison Boss by D.Dream Games needed direct-to-consumer sales to feel more dynamic than “here’s a shop link”. The team wanted to:
  • run culturally localised seasonal events
  • show personalised offers based on player behavior

  • build reward chains that encourage repeat visits

About the game

Hoosegow: Prison Boss is a mobile choice-based Survival game with elements of dark humor. Players manage guards in a fictional prison where every decision has consequences.

What they built with Web Shop

By integrating Xsolla Web Shop, D.Dream Games didn’t just offer players an alternative sales channel it extended the gaming experience. The game’s web shop mirrors Hoosegow’s visual style, and the item names and descriptions also stay true to the game’s tone. To keep players coming back (and buying again), D.Dream developers leaned on three LiveOps mechanics: Personalized Offers
Instead of running one generic discount for everyone, the team showed offers that matched what the player was experiencing. For example, the studio introduced the “Breakthrough” offer, which appears after players fail a boss fight several times in a row – a helpful nudge right when frustration is high. They also tested a high-discount offer for active players who hadn’t bought anything yet.

Rather than offering regular players a standard VIP ladder, D.Dream used Xsolla Web Shop to build themed tiers that fit the game, offering specific perks at each rank. For each purchase, players earn Value Points, which then provide tangible and permanent bonuses, such as:
  • Insider: +3,000 coins when buying stamp packs (local currency)
  • Power Broker: permanent 50% discount on skins
  • The Untouchable: guaranteed daily lottery ticket

The studio transformed the Web Shop retention mechanism into a full-fledged game feature, turning a standard promo-code tool into something players look forward to. Each week, players receive a free lottery coupon, using Xsolla’s standard promo codes but customized for randomized distribution. In A/B testing, the custom design drove 19% higher conversion than the standard template.
