Xsolla has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Management and Science University (MSU) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, creating a formal bridge between academic game development education and the commercial realities of the global video game industry.

Connecting the classroom to the global market

The partnership is built around a simple premise: technical skills alone are not enough. Today's video game developers need to understand how games are published, monetized, and distributed at scale. Through industry talks, guest lectures, and best-practice sharing sessions, Xsolla and MSU will expose students and faculty to current commercial workflows used across the global games market. xsolla-blog-msu-mou-featured-image-2112x1146.webp “Today’s game developers need more than technical skills; they need to understand the complete business of bringing games to market,” said Chris Hewish, President of Xsolla. “Our partnership with MSU gives students access to the technologies, workflows, and commercial infrastructure used throughout the industry, helping prepare the next generation of developers to successfully launch and grow their games on a global scale.”

Hands-on access to professional publishing tools

A key element of the collaboration is giving students direct access to Xsolla's end-to-end video game commerce ecosystem, including the Xsolla Publishing Suite and Launcher. Rather than simulating industry conditions, students will work with the same professional-grade publishing, payment, monetization, and distribution tools used by developers worldwide, integrating them into their own projects during their studies. This kind of practical exposure is increasingly valued by studios looking to hire graduates who can contribute from day one.

Recognizing outstanding graduates

The partnership extends beyond the curriculum. Xsolla will participate in selected MSU convocation activities, presenting industry awards to recognise outstanding graduates. It's a signal that this collaboration is about more than access to tools; it's about acknowledging and championing emerging talent within Malaysia's growing interactive entertainment ecosystem. MSU, ranked #597 in the QS World University Rankings 2026, has built a reputation for connecting students with real-world industry opportunities across Information Sciences, Engineering, Technology, and related disciplines. Both organisations have indicated they will continue exploring additional ways to support talent development and innovation in the region.

A model for industry-academia collaboration

As Southeast Asia's games industry continues to grow, partnerships like this one offer a practical template for how companies and universities can work together, closing the gap between what students learn and what the industry needs.
