Netease Games partners with Xsolla to expand mobile audience and online payments

NetEase is one of the largest video game and internet companies in the world. Not only does it develop and operate PC and mobile games, but the company also cooperates with industry leaders including Blizzard Entertainment, Mojang AB (a Microsoft subsidiary), Warner Bros. Games and other global game developers. They also own investment stakes in well-known game developers Bungie and Quantic Dream.

Xsolla was honored when NetEase Games contacted us about expanding its new mobile titles and helping them connect with alternative payment methods. The goal was to provide customer flexibility by adding local forms of online payment solutions, including those that operate without credit cards.


By partnering with Xsolla and utilizing the Mobile Web Shop, NetEase Games was granted scalable access to 700+ pre-integrated payment methods worldwide, with access in 200+ countries, all through a single API connection.


This integration allowed NetEase Games to add Korea-specific options to their payment page, giving customers the ability to use payments such as KakaoPay, TOSS, and even local gift cards like Culture Land, Cashbee, Book Voucher, and Happymoney to top up their game accounts.

On top of that, the infrastructure we have provided is now in place and can deploy quickly and easily to any number of additional games now or in the future.

Technical aspects included: 


  • Enabled all available localized alternative payment methods, increasing footprint for unbanked and underserved players worldwide.
  • Localized pricing and language support for checkout UI in all markets.
  • Filtering fraudulent payments using a self-updating algorithm.
  • Disputed transaction reviews 24/7 using behavioral and data metrics.
  • Legal compliance with local regulations in South Korea
