Gaijin’s War Thunder reaches thousands of new players with Xsolla Digital Distribution Hub


MMO game developer/publisher Gaijin Entertainment is known for titles such as Crossout, Star Conflict, Enlisted and the award-winning Il-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey. Steadily growing their catalog since 2002, Gaijin’s recent focus has been on their wildly popular vehicular combat MMO, War Thunder.


This cross-platform, free-to-play game had already earned a significant player base, topping 44k by the end of 2021. Hoping to reach even more players, Gaijin reached out to Xsolla to help them take War Thunder’s popularity to the next level.

A joint audit of Gaijin’s needs identified three significant growth opportunities:

  • Access more distribution channels
  • Provide players with more payment methods
  • Increase coverage in more regions

Gaijin’s goals highlighted the need for a combination of Xsolla products to further amp up their already successful game.

Gaijin agreed, implementing two Xsolla core products: Pay Station and Anti-Fraud. The studio also went on to became one of the first Xsolla partners to utilize Xsolla’s Digital Distribution Hub solution to sell their games with cash and digital distribution platforms.

Always eager to help partners grow their business, Xsolla worked closely with Gaijin to ensure a quick and efficient integration, provide 700+ payment methods, and open up distribution in their key territories: Russia, USA, South Korea, the Netherlands, Poland, and most recently China in 2019, and India in 2021.

Digital Distribution Hub allowed Gaijin to place their existing games in cash kiosks, ATMs, super apps, and online banking apps. As their catalog grows, they can now seamlessly add new titles across their entire distribution network. 

Gaijin players can transfer funds directly into their gaming account without logging into the game, while a helpful calculator feature lets customers see projected funds as they top up their favorite game.
